        On flat parts such as aluminum oxide die castings, and cylindrical or contoured tooling and machine parts — consistent and predictable finishes are key. 3M™ Microfinishing Film Belt 362L helps produce smooth finishes and achieve close tolerances by way of a smooth, consistent film backing and micron graded aluminum oxide. The abrasive mineral is uniformly distributed over the backing, which helps produce a consistent finish each time you sand.

        Recommended substrates for this precision abrasive are finishing on metal, plastic and woodworking applications that demand precision.

        Smooth, High-Strength Polyester Backing
        Compared to conventional cloth and paper backings, the uniform smoothness of film provides a far more consistent substrate for the precise application of resins and micron-graded mineral. The high-strength 3 mil polyester backing is helpful when close tolerances are important.

        Micron-Graded Aluminum Oxide
        We engineer 3M™ Microfinishing Film Belt 362L by adhering micron-graded aluminum oxide mineral to the film backing with a resin bond. In order to achieve an extremely consistent scratch for high tolerance applications, we use micron-graded mineral, which is measured at a very tight tolerance for size. The resin bond ensures reliable, durable performance.

        The 3M™ Microfinishing Film Belt 362L features precision, micron-graded aluminum oxide, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used for sanding and finishing applications. 362L film belt is available in a variety of grades, so operators can tailor the grade to their part.
