Flexible Sanding Cloth
Our 3M™ Cloth Roll 340D is best suited for metal and wood sanding and finishing thanks to its durability and fast cutting abrasive material. With a flexible mix of polyester and cotton, this x-weight cloth backing provides smooth operation and durability and can conform to the shape of contoured parts for consistent finishing. The abrasive side features an open coat of aluminum oxide grains that self-fracture and stay sharp to provide a fast cut and a fine finish.
Aluminum Oxide Abrasive
Aluminum oxide is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, whereas traditional natural abrasives dull more quickly. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used for sanding and finishing applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable for use on a wide variety of materials in metal and woodworking.
Heat and Load Resistant
This roll also uses a resin bonding which is specially designed to resist thermal and chemical deterioration, which can occur during sanding. This bond is very tough and excellent for precision work on hard and soft wood. This also allows for faster sanding and a higher cut rate. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sawdust and other sanding debris and avoid clogging the cutting edge of the grains. This allows the abrasive mineral to continue cutting even when sanding materials that would otherwise clog the grain and hinder sanding ability.
